HAWKE’S BAY JOCKEY CLUB’S SPRING MEETING. FIRST DAY. The Hawke’s Bay JocKey Club’s Summer Meeting was commenced on Monday at Hastings. The weather was beautifully fine, and the attendance was a record for a summer meeting, about 5000 to 6000 people being present. The sum of £.7572 was invested on the totalisator, an increase of £2049 over the total for the first day last year. The following were the results:— MAIDEN HACK HANDICAP. Five and ahalf furlongs.
