TRAINING NOTES.

ELLERSLIESATURDAY. Kilderkin and another spurted five furlongs on the tan in Imin 5 3-ssec. Gir<on Girl left the four furlongs behind in 50sec on the same track. She afterwards won the double at Alexandra Park. Waitati spurted five furlongs in Imin 4sec, finishing in good style. Pearl Necklet, who does not seem to improve, took Imin 36 4-ssec to finish the last seven furlongs of a mile. Carl Rosa, nicely, left the four furlongs behind in olsec on the tan. Annette beat Vivandel pointless in a seven furlongs run in Imin 32 3-ssec. King Paul strode over nine furlongs at three-quarter pace, while his stablemate, Lady Clements, spurted four furlongs on the inside of the tan in 47 3-ssec. The costly Monoform had Syren settled in a five furlongs sprint in Imin 4 4-ssec. Conductor had Lady Hune shaken oft at the end of a four furlongs flutter; the last three furlongs in 36 4-ssec. The Lark and another spurted a few furlongs, finishing together. Mr. Geo. Wright’s newly-acquired Ironmould looked big, and was restricted to halfpace work. Lord Seaton had a credit of Imin 48 1-5 sec for a mile on the sand track, finishing fairly well. Sir Gilead had P. Conway for a pilot, and spurted a few furlongs after a half-pace circle. Lysea, who is in work again, did useful work. Landlock did likewise. Discoverer cut onit the six furlongs in a tick under Imin 20sec on the sand. General Average had a ’.ength to the good in a four furlongs flutter with Nervine in 49 2-ssec. Desdemona, finishing strongly, ran four furlongs in 50sec on the tan. Mahutonga, who was anxiously looked for, now put in an appearance (with J. Buchanan up), but the onlookers had to be content to witness a couple of half-pace rounds. The last year’s Cup winner looks big and bright, and would only want a few gallops to make him cherry ripe. Puhipuhi took Imin 57 3-ssec to complete the nine furlongs on the tan, and does not look like a Cup winner, although bred on correct lines. After breakfast some sprinting was indulged in, and the course had its holiday attire on and looking quite gay with the different coloured tents in readiness for the floral fete. TUESDAY. Most oflthe work was done on the tan track, which the trainers now find useful, as the ground is getting hard. Waitati and Sir Hector had a five furlongs burst, finishing /together in Imin 1 l-ssec. Putty, who looks a picture, was indulged in two separate three furlongs sprints,

moving nicely. Inniskillen and a mate had a medium-pace circuit, and then broke away for another round at top in Imin 57 2-ssec. Monoform 'finished in front of Scotty on the sand in 2min Isec, once round. Leonator dressed Discoverer down in a five furlongs flutter in Imin 2 3-ssec. Annette, at top, left the last five of six furmngs behind in Imin 4 3-5 sec on the sand. King Paul did the fastest nine furlongs of the morning, getting round in Imin 52sec. Conductor proved too fast for the Lark in a four furlongs sprint in 48sec. Vivandel surprised the onlookers by finishing in front of Carl Rosa, with Pearl Necklet beaten off, over the six furlongs on the sand in Imin 19 l-ssec. The Marguerite colt had a credit of 51 3-ssec for four furlongs. Sir Gilead had no chance with the Cup candidate Mahutonga, who finished up the nine furlongs in Imin 53 4-ssec. Another Cup candidate, Jewellery, put in a couple of useful rounds at three-quarter pace. Landlock suffered a defeat at the hands of Lady Clements in a fast five furlongs flutter in Imin 1 3-ssec. Sonoma, Apologue, Kilderkin, Hohoro, Gladstone, Lady Hune, Syren, Delqnia, Bonomiana, Silicia, Master Delaval, Lycia, Pukekohe, Kola Nip, Ben Blair, Full Cry, Heroism, Gordie, La Mascotte, Meseri, Ironmould, and Gladys Rose all did useful work.
