FIRST DAY. The Hawke s Bay Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting opened on Wednesday. The weather in the morning was beautifully fine, though slight showers fell in the afternoon, but nothing to mar the pleasure of the day’s sport. The attendance was very large, the visiting contingent being numerous. The sum of £6734 was invested on the totalisator, an advance of £1313 on last year.
