HAWKE’S BAY.
Napier, August 2. After payment of the first forfeit 33 horses remain in the Napier Stakes, which event forms one of the features of the Spring fixture of the Napier Park Racing Club next October. Roseshoot’s withdrawal from his engagements at the National Meeting was owing to the gelding having contracted a cold, which developed into influenza. Up to last Saturday morning Roseshoot was shaping well in his tasks, but on that date though present on the course he was not exercised as the malady was then making itself apparent.
