CYCLING.

The Dunlop Tyre Company advise that the prize-list in the Timaru-to-Christ-church Road Race, on Saturday, Jily 16, will be a motor cycle, presented by Messrs Oates, Lowry and Co. The allotment of the other prizes will take place shortly. These include a Red Bird cycle, by the Canada Cycle and Motor Company, Ltd. ; Bell cycle, by Messrs Bell Bros., Christchurch ; Rover cycle by Messrs Inglis Bros., Wellington ; £3 3s, by the League of New Zealand Wheelmen; £2 2s, by the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club.

The Chairman of the South Australian League of Wheelmen, Mr J. W. Bond, has resigned his position, after being three years in office, owing to the recent action of the League’s Appeal Board in reducing the long term of disqualification imposed, on Scheps and Pye to a nominal fine. It is a pity more League officers throughout the different Eastern States do not show the same backbone as Mr Bond.

The Otago Centre of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen has already settled down to work out arrangements in connection with its Test Race to choose a representative to compete in the Dunlop Timaru-to-Christchurch Road Race, on July 16.

The Dunlop Company are paying the expenses of representatives from the various centres, . whilst the cycle trade in each centre is assisting with prizes.

The stately Eucalyptus bends its head, And sights and moa'AS as if all joys had fled. The sleepy Bear cries :—“Why such sad lament ? I’d like to know what’s ruffled your content.” “Alas !’ the sad old tree says in reply, “Once full af joy, and pride, and power was I, But. now my oil’s discarded, and I find Woods’ Peppermint Cure is used by all mankind.”
