A STRANGE COINCIDENCE

The other evenibg “ Bohemian,” of the Soufh Australian " Register,” was showing Mr Edward Lauri a photograph album of old theatrical celebrities, and Kir Henry Hallam came along just as the pages were opened at a picture of Hattie Shepparde, a great favourite in Australia thirty years ago. Hattie Shepparde was Mr Hallam’s first wife, and, strange to say, he had broken the plate of this very photograph, and as he did not have a likeness of her who was once so popular with the public, the scribe lent him the photo to have it copibd. It had several in memoriam verses printed on the back. Mr Hallam married Hattie Shepparde in 1873, and she died early in 1874. Previous to that he was in Adelaide on the Stock Exchange. That was the time of the Northern Territory 7 rush.
