AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING.

SOME LIKELY WINNERS SELECTED.

Next Saturday the Auckland Trotting Club will make a commencement with the Autumn Meeting, when a very good pro gramme of events is to be gone .through. It only the weather keeps as fine as it has done on the last few Saturdays, it may safely be reckoned that Mr Mark will see a very large number of sportsmen at Alexandra Park when the bell rings for the first race. Now that the electric trams run right out to the door, the trotting park is a much more accessable spot than was formerly the case. To deal with the anticipated rush the Tramway t Company intends putting i-n a vei-y large’ number of the large cars, and as these will be supplemented by plenty of brakes, there should be no necessity to trouble about transport accommodation, whidh will be more ample than on any previous occasion. Mr Mark, the popular secretary, reports that everything will be in “ applepie order,” and that very complete arrangements have been made for the comfort of patrons. Proceedings will commence with the Maiden Trot,' in which thirteen are engaged. The winner will take some finding, but possibly the safest to trufet to fill the places arer— ' •

The Stewards’ Handicap Trot, of 70 govs, is next in order, and in this juuct of the dons are engaged. There are eiarht trotters still left in, and one who has been doing the best track work is Occidental, so I will place them — OCCIDENTAL POLLY 11. DURBAR The Middle Class Trot has ten remaining in to do battle, and they seem pretty avenly matdhed. The two I like best are DUCHESS OF ROTHSCHILD or PETER There are some line trotters in the Northern Handicap, 'of 40 sovs, and previous rimming will, of course, be a guide as to how the ten horses are likely to shape. hazard a selection I will go for — W LADY FLORENCE f THORNDEAN r LITTLE BEN The Electric Trot will bring, proceedings to a close, and for this there are no less than sixteen acceptors. Although several are sure to drop out, it ought to prove one of the best races of the day. Those which appear to iiave the ii< chest chances are —

As the acceptances for the pony events are not due till this evening, I am unable to make any attempt to hazard a forecast. The meeting will be concluded on Wednesday next.
