GOLF.

The annual meesing of the Auckland Golf Club was held on Saturday evening at Mr W. S. Cochrane’s office, Shortland Street. Mr S. Thorne George presided, and there were also present - Messrs E. D. O’Rorke, F. E. N. Crombie, J. Sykes, C. E. S. Gillies, H. Gillies, E. Horton, M. Peel J. Hall, W. Colbeck, J. S’. Rutherford, W. S. Cochrane, A. Clark, F. Coates, H. Horton, and J. Burns. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : —President, Sir John Logan Campbell ; vice-presidents, Messrs S. Thorne George, M. A. Clark, and W. S. Cochrane ; captain, Mr J. R. Sykes ; hon. secretary, Mr C. E. S. Gillies ; hon. treasurer, Mr F. E. .N. Crombie; committee, Messrs E. D. O’Rorke, H. Gillfillan, and J. W. Hall. The annual subscription was raised to £4 4s. It may be mentioned that the club subscription in Christchurch has been fixed at £4 4s and in Wellington at £5 ss. The entrance fee was reduced from £3 3s to one guinea, so that although the annual subscription has been raised the entrance fee is, on the other hand, lessened, and thus both amounts come to the original total. It was notified that Mr Alister Clark, a visitor from Melbourne, and Mr A. Hanna, of Auckland, had each promised to present to the club for competition a trophy of the value of (£5. Various votes of thanks were accorded, and a special vote was accorded to the hon)i secretary (Mr C. E. S. Gillies) for his services during the past year.
