The list of fixtures drawn up by the Auckland Golf Club for season 1903 is as under • April 4 bogey handicap ; April 11, nursery handicap ; Ap’il 18 and 25, the Hargreaves’ medal, 18 holes; May 2, medal handicap; May 9, the Fry challenge trophy ; May 16 and 23, the George Cup, 18 holes; June 3 (Prince of Wales’ Birthday), mix'd foursomes; June 6, Grimshaw memorial; June 13, foursomes handicap (medal play, entrance Is eac’i); June 27, nursery handicap and seniors’ handicap; July 11, the Fry challenge trophy; Jane 18 and 25, the George Cup, 18 holes; August 1, championship (first round); August 8, championship (second round); August 15 championship (thirdround); August 22, championship (final round) ; Vugust 29, mixed foursomes; September 5, the Fry challenge trophy. Other matches may be arranged. A number of Auckland are making the trip to New Plymouth to essist in the opening of the new links there. o 0- » o ’ The links at Cornwall Park presented quite a lively scene on Saturday, <the first of the regular matches being played by the members; of the Auckland Golf Club. J. R. 'Hooper, playing from scratch, showed the best result, but Colonel Bogey remained unbeaten. Hooper finished with two down,- Dr. Lewis, E. Turner, anh H. T. Gillies being next with three down. Some twenty players took part in the tournament. ' vGolf appears to be in a very flourishing state in Australia. In New South Wales there is a Suburban and Country Association in which there are six clubs, these going through a regular programme of inter-club events. Matches for combined suburban teams of sixteen players are also arranged against the two big metropolitan clubs, the Royal Sydney and the Australian.
