Entries for the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association’s Championship and handicaps close on April 4. It is probable that there will be quite an hrray of crack players at the meeting. There is to be a meeting of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association delegates, when matters of importance will be brought forward. A tennia tournament will be held her© at Easter in connection with the InterUniversity tournament, $ a • ♦ The final of the Auckland Club's combined doubles resulted in a victory for Mrs Goss and Robertson (receive five), who defeated Mrs Coates and J ackson (scratch) by seventy-five to sixty-three. A team from the Auckland Club, consisting of Mrs Coates, Mrs Palethorpe, Mrs Churton, and Miss Ring, and Messrs Palethorpe, Johnson, Watkins and Mickle paid a visit to Papatoetoe on Saturday. They were met at the station and driven tq the ground. The matches were very evenly contested all through, but ended slightly in favour of the local club. Miss Grey and Sumner beat Miss Ring and Johnson, while Miss Grey and Mr J. Grey defeated Mrs Churton and Palethorpe. Mrs Coates and Watkins were successful |in their match however, but unfortunately time prevented some Of th* other contests being completed. The visitors were treated with the utmost hospitality by the Papatoetoe club, and all thoroughly enjoyed their outing. The Misses Crump and McCahon and Messrs R. Brown and W. Wi Repa, or W. A. Fairclough, will in all probability, represent the OtagO University in the tennis Championship to be held in Auckland at Easter in connection with the Inter’Varsity tournament.
