Mr Jas. Hedley, the one-time wellknown coursing judge, died on December 23, at Hexham. Mr Hedley; who was born at Newcastleton, in 1838," achieved a prominent position in the coursing world. He judged the Waterloo Cup for no fewer than twenty-four consecutive years, commencing in 1874, and his decisions in hie judicial capacity were practically ever received without question. Some years ago he was the recipient of a testimonial amounting to over £2OOO, for he was a popular man and a thorough straight goer. For a considerable period Mr Hedley had been in failing health, and his demise was not unexpected.
