BOWLING
Despite the inclement weather, there was a goodly muster at the opening of the Te Aroha Bowling Green, on New Year’s Day. There was quite a number of visitors from the various clubs, the Thames sending' up a very strong contingent, while Cambridge. Gisborne, New Plymouth, and Wellington were represented. Among those from the Auckland clubs were Mes(rs Carlaw, M. McCallum, King, and W. Coleman (Auckland), McGregor (Mount Eden), Wynyard (Onehunga), Harrison, Larner, and R. McCallum ( Devonport), and Woolier (Remuera). All the. visitors speak in terms of high praise of the green, which is in excellent condition, playing fast and true. Mr James Mills, Mayor of Te Aroha, and Mr F. T’avitt. president of the Te Aroha Bowling Club, welcomed the visitors. A very even match between the president’s and vice-president’s teams was narrowly won bv the former with a score of 129 to 126.
