NORTHERN WAIROA R.C. SUMMER MEETING.

A great success was achieved by the Northern Wairoa Racing Club with its Summer Meeting on December 26, 27, and January 1, 1903. The attendance was excellent, and the racing of an interesting character. The following are the results : — FIRST DAY. Handicap Hubdle Race of 20 sots. One mile and a-balf. —Messrs Whitelaw Marshall’s Sirdar, 9st 101 b, 1; Mr W. Brown’s Swiftfoot, 9st 101 b, 2; Mr Benjamin’s Telephone 11., Ost 101 b, 3. Other starters—Lightning, list 81b ; Waimana, 10st. Waimana was leading until the last hurdle, which he struck heavily, and the jockey was unseated. Lightning ran inside the first hurdle.
