REFORM IN BOTTLE MANUFATURE.

From our London representative we learn ttat a revolution is promised in the .glass bottle manufacturing processes[,> .and; the system in use by English makers- will no longer be the leading practice in .England. It'-seems that the Germans are<muoh ahead of us in that line, and have for'some time past been steadily capturing thelmArket, as their methods of manufacture enable them to compete on much better. iermnYthan English manufacturers can offer./ This is not so much a question of price,, as ..of workmanship, and more modern ideas, of which their workmen are masters. It is the old story of the conservative workman and his trade unions, which will not permit any departure from the ancient system in vogue in the. factories.: -They argue that the way glass bottles; were made by the previous generations, is : good enough still. Meanwhile other, nations have marched forward in the arts, and England is stationary, all because; it is the wall of the workers that their /.industry may be held as a close preserve. Quite lately an enterprising firm of English, manufacturers have started to manufacture on the‘.German systems, and have imported.Qprinan workmen, after finding it. hopeless; ob< tain men in England who could wbtk according to Continental methods, '.The firm in question, Messrs Moore;. Nettlefold and Co., confine themselves to b ack glass bottles at present, but hope ere Ibngi, ‘to extend their plant, in order to paake white glass to contain mineral waters. \
