OBITUARY
By the death of Mr Charles Buckland of the Thames, another of the old hotelkeeping identities has been' removed. The deceased gentleman was a native of Wiltshire, England. He arrived m Auckland in January, 1867," and after a few months went down to the Thames, where he had, with the exception of a trip ■■ Home a few years ago, resided ever since. ' During the last twenty-two years he was ' proprietor of the Salutation Hotel, Mary street, Thames, in which house he earned the esteem and goodwill of all persons' he came in contact, with. Deceased was bO years of age, and leaves three sons and „ne daughter, who have the sympathy ft j arge circle of friends and acquaintiiv2 .'antes.'
