OBITUARY

By the death of Mr Charles Buckland of the Thames, another of the old hotelkeeping identities has been' removed. The deceased gentleman was a native of Wiltshire, England. He arrived m Auckland in January, 1867," and after a few months went down to the Thames, where he had, with the exception of a trip ■■ Home a few years ago, resided ever since. ' During the last twenty-two years he was ' proprietor of the Salutation Hotel, Mary street, Thames, in which house he earned the esteem and goodwill of all persons' he came in contact, with.
