AN IMPORTANT SALE OF THOROUGHBRED* YEARLINGS IN SYDNEY IN APRIL.

From Messrs H. Chisholm and Co, of Sydney, I have received catalogues of an important sale of yearlings to be conducted by them at their stables, Randwick, on Thursday the 9th April. As the sale will be held during the A J.C. Meeting week there will doubtless be a large assemblage of inter-colonial ‘ visitors. The Wilton Park yearlings—the property of Mr Samuel Hordern—numbers no less than forty lots, and are all by those well bred sires Haut Brion (imp),. Hindoo (imp), and Gique (imp). The auctioners point Qut the value of the Galopin—Musket cross, and as a good proportion of the season’s draft of the Wilton Park yearlings are bred to this com® bination their value should be considerably enhanced. The following high-class winners aie representatives of the Galopm—Musket cross :— Berenice, Fulminate, Grasspan, Haulette, Hautesse, Kenley, Lotos. LissadurnJ Mil'i, Merriwee, Ormoz, Perplex, Pearl Skipper] Portague, Portland Light Renown, Reliance Scorn, Scornful, The Sirdar, United States, Verne Water Nymph, Wigelmar. In England, La Fleche and Memoir, two of the greatest mares that ever raced, also that good Trenton colt, Lonpy, and the Carbine filly DumDum, are also bad to this celebrated cross. Mr R. C. Allen has twelve lots for offer, eight by Eirid<pord (imp)one by Wallace, Carbine’s'best son, one by Bill of Portland (imp), one by Havoc, brother toZ dinski, and one bv Projectile. Nineteen of Mr James Thompson’s will go to the hammer nit e of them being by Lochiel. the sire of such, well-known performers as Amiable, Cremona, Dewey, Le Var, Paul Pry, Survivor, and Cross lake. Mr John M’Laughlin offers five, one of them, a brown colt, by Haut Brion (imp) from The Meddler, half sister to Paul Pry. Other sires represented in the catalogue are Projectile, Antaeus, Bowmont, Cobbitty, Cranbrook, Dal® meny (imp), Favor (imp), Gaulu , winner of the 1897 Melbourne Cup, Gossoon (imp), Grafton ; (imp), Holbrook,’ Impetus (imp), Jeweller, Kingsley (imp), Medallion, Niagara, half brother to Trenton, Positario (imp), True Blue, brother to Screwgun, and others.
