AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB.

ANNUAL REPOET AND BALANCE-SHEET. Gbntlbmbn—Your committee have much pleasure in presenting their Annual Balance-, sheet and Profit and Account for the past season. . : On reference to the profit and loss account you will see that the club has made an actual profit of the year’s working of £2ll. They have pleasure in reporting that the meetings held under the club’s auspices continue tp retain their popularity with the public. There have been some serious cases of malpractice dealt with during the year, notably, those of one owner and two riders, who have been disqualified for life in connection with the Try me and Karaka cases, several others having been disqualified for shorter terms and several fined.

Your committee feel that a word of praise is due to the stewards for the careful and impartial manner in which they have dealt with every case on which they have adjudicated. They have to report that during the season the limits in all important handi aps have been materially reduced, and they would recommend; a still further gradual reduction. t takes were increased to some extent during the season, and your committee recommend that not more than eight races be placed on any one day’s programme, and that the amount of the stakes for the ninth race as on the last year’s Summer programme be distributed "over the other races at the meeting. Your committee wish to inform you that they have arranged to pay stakes in full at the Spring Meeting, and. would recommend that the club adopt this, course in future at all meetings. Messrs Harford, Rhodes, Kidd, McEwin, Morrison, Harris, Caulton, and Coates, retire from the committee, the last four, that is, Messrs Harris,' Caulton, Coates, and Morrison, with Messrs Ralph, McManus, and Maconochie offer themselves for election, and as this is the number of vacancies it will not be necessary to have a ballot. Trusting, gentlemen, that you may again, have a successful season. —I remain, :fpr the--odm-mitte, A. R. Harris, Chairman.

Balahck-bhekt. For Season ending 31st July, 1900.

I have examined the above Balance-sheet, together with its accompanying Profit and Loss Accounts, and compared it-with the Books and Vouchers, and found it to agree therewith. I am of opinion that the Balancesheet presents a true state of the Club’s affairs on 31st Jnly, 1900. - O. B. WAYMOUTH, yi - (Certificated Accountant, Eng.), Corporate Accountant. . Auditor. Auckland/&Bth September, 1900.

The champion' pacer Star Pointer has a son called Sidney Pointer- that is showing speed enough to warrant his admirers predicting that he Will'wear his daddy’s crown some day, says Sportsman. At Cleveland recently he won the 2.15 pace in straight heats, the time being 2.10, 2 08jand 2.09 and the report says he.did it with case. As bidney Pointer was a green Etirse at the opening of the season, his showing is certainly a remarkable one.

There are 41 paying members of the Auckland Trotting Club, besides six life members, and the new members who have hot yet been elected. The balance sheet of the Auckland Trotting Club shows that the finances are in a healthy state, and that the Club has a good surplus in hand for the coming season. Messrs J. G. Ralph, J. McOonnoohie, and McManus are the new members of the Auckland Trotting Club Committee. They are all good sportsmen, and can be relied upon to do everything in their power for the welfare of the sport. - r The Auckland Trotting Club intend to gradually decrease the limit in their trotting races. The handicapping of Mr Edwards for the coming programme will be anxiously awaited I expect to see his work very favourably criticised, for he is undoubtedly a keen student of the game. The annual general meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club was held on Friday last, when there was a good muster of members Mr A. R. Harris was in the chair, and in the course of the proceedings he spoke of the improvement that had taken place in trotting, and the determination on the part of the Club to see that the sport moved ahead.
