Sale of a trotter—Vascoe—The Wingatui Meeting—Fulmen— Arrivals at Wingatui.
Dunedin, September 26. Mr G. Bussell, of Southland, has purchased the trotter Candidate for £l7O. Vascoe, the trotter located at Wingatui, and now the property of Free Holmes, it is said can break Bmin for three miles. If so, he has a mortgage on the big race at Tahuna Park. Interest is now simmering on the forthcoming races at Wingatui- Bishop arrived with his team at Wingatui yesterday. The probable starters and riders in the Mosgiel Handicap are:—Jupiter (McComb), Maremma (Chapman), Brisa (T. Buddicomb). Trainers say the Wingatui raices are too far away, and caused a paucity of entries from Christchurch, as the meeting interferes with the preparations for other meetings. Fulmen is standing up to his work like a Briton. Windermere has arrived here, but is very sore. Other northern horses here are Wedlock, Bimetallist, Bochester, Bracken, Paladin, Umslopogaas, and St. Linda. J. Taggart has Delaroo and Nigger at Wingatui.
