COURSING

It will be remembered that the Alameda, on her last trip en route to,the Golden Gate, took away with her our champion New Zealand dog, Shylock, together with Portia (Shylock—Primrose) and Frank Baker’s fine-looking youngster by Shylock out of i ora B. They were all under the care of Frank Baker, and news was received by Mr J. W. Russell, of the Occidental Hotel, on Thursday that the dogs had arrived at Hono ; lulu all well, with the exception of Portia, who had given Baker a lot of trouble. This little bitch, it is thought, had not undergone a proper preparation for her sea voyage. It is to be hoped that when we next hear from America that the news concerning Portiu will be more satisfactory. Old Shylock was in splendid health, but then he is now quite a seasoned traveller.
