Our Illustrations.

This week’s issue is devoted principally to the reproduction of some of the principals in the cast of “The Mikado” and “ The Gondoliers,” these two operas being now in course of production at the Opera House. “ (he Mikado” is the first one to be staged, but as “ The Gondoliers” will follow before our next number appears, both are represented. Mr Archdale Tayler as Ko-Ko, Miss Emily Reeve as Katisha, and Mr A. L. Edwards as Nanki Poo will be at once recognised in their Japanese costumes, while Mrs Hopkins as Casilda, Mr G. Tracey Hall as Guiseppe, and the Misses L. Thomson and Carrie Knight as Tessa and Gianetta respectively, in “The Gondoliers,” by their graceful attitudes, give our readers a foretaste of the treat in store when this opera is put on. A picture of that pretty little trotting pony Isabel also appears. She was bred in Victoria, but her pedigree is not known. She is, however, a champion amongst the little ones, and is engaged in the Exhibition Cup Handicap, being now the property of Mr Dick Henryk
