NOMINATIONS for all events, excepting Maiden Hack Race, close with the Secretary, at his Office, Queen Street, Masteiton, on SATURDAY, 12th November, 1898, at 9.30 P WEIGHTS for the First Day’s Races will be declared on or before SATURDAY, 26th November, 1898, at 9.30 p.m., and for the Second Day’s Races on THURSDAY, Sth December, 1898, at Bp.m. ACCEPTANCES for the First Day’s Races, and ENTRIES for the Malden Hack Race, close with the Secietaryon SATURDAY. 3rd December, 18.8, at 9.30 p.m., and for the Second Day’s Raceson THURSDAY, Bth December, at 9 p.m. RULES AND REGULATIONS. All races to be run under the New Zealand Rules of Racing. In case of protest the same must be lodged with the Secretary within fifteen minutes after the race has been run, with a deposit of £2, such deposit to be forfeited if the protest be found frivolous or vexatious. No scratching of horses allowed except through the Secretary, and thirty minutes before the time of starting. No entry will be received for any race unless on the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards or whom they may appoint. Their decisions on all points shall be final. All Nominations, Entries, and Acceptances, accompanied by the necessary amount, must be addressed to the Secretary, Queen Street, Masterton. Winners of any race of £so or over, after the declaration of weights, to carry a penalty of 71b. Winners of any race of le.-s than £5O, after the declaration of weights, to carry a penalty of 51b. No entry will be received after the hour named on any pretence whatever. Any jockey riding except in colors'shall be fined £2. The amount for second horse shall be deducted from the advertised amount of stakes. Horses walking over will receive 50 per cent, of the stakes. . , x Definition of a Hack. —A hack is a horse that has never won an advertised race at any time, hack or hunter races excepted, and is not or has not been nominated in any race other than hack races at the same meeting. All Nominations, Entries, and Acceptances shall be expressly subject to the Rules and Regulations before mentioned. Money will be received for investment on the Totalisator by the undersigned, on the usual conditions, up to within one hour of the starting of each race. Contingent instructions "will not be accepted. NOTICE TO OWNERS, TRAINERS, and JOCKEYS. PASSES will be issued to OWNERS ONLY.
