■ . 4 Mr John Cresswell, hon. secretary ofthe Australasian Cricket Council, has written to the- - Marylebone C.C., stating that the Council con- ', aiders 1899 would be an opportune time for the visit of an Australian Eleven to England, and . y asking the club’s opinion on the matter. .In a -; letter to Mr C. W. Alcock, secretary of the Surrey; C.C., asking him, in the event of a team being' sent, if he would be prepared to arrange a pro-7 ! gramme of matches in England, Mr Cresswell adds this significant clause, “ You will under- ;; stand, of course, that no team going from.thiscountry will be considered representative : unless sent under the auspices of the Aus- 7 tralasian Cricket Council.” To the hon. secretary of the Cape Town Cricketing Association Mr Cresswell has addressed the following communication : “In the event of a team being sent ' to England by the Australasian Cricket Council f 7 during the year 1899, I shall be glad to know whether arrangements can be made for a series-L*. o+' games with the principal clubs in South Africa j o n the journey either to or from England.”
