At the present time there are four remarkably fine yearlings at Ellerslie. The Cuirassier — Jadestone colt is in the hands of Mr George Wright, and is looking remarkably well. This is a lusty and powerful colt, and will be either a champion or nothing. Mr J. C. Booth has a couple of very fine youngsters to handle, one being by St. Hippo out of Cantiniere, and the other by Cuirassier — Balista. Most people would prefer the lastnamed, but the Cantiniere colt is very likely to furnish into another St. Hippo ; he is a powerful fellow, and in many respects resembles his sire. The fourth colt is located at Alex. Caulton’s stable in Greenlane ; he is by St. Leger —Antelope and stands on a beautiful set of legs : he has only been placed in Caulton’s hands during the past week, but already he displays the sweetest of tempers; with his fine quarters and great shoulders this, the latest son of Antelope, should make a wonderful galloper. The value of stallions of the highest class is going up fast in America, states an exchange. Only a few days ago 30,000d015. was offered for Allerton (2min 9£sec), 15,000d015. was bid for another prominent stock horse, and it is well* known that there are several 10,000dols. buyers looking for the best they can get.
