The attention of owners and trainersis directed to the advertised programme of the Taranaki Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting, published elsewhere. The added money for the fourteen events amounts to the very respectable sum of £1,190, and the chief event is the Taranaki Handicap of 300 sovs, one mile and a quarter, to be run on the first day of the meeting, February 17. Second in point of value is the Autumn Handicap of 200 sovs, also one mile and a quarter, to be run on the second day, but other plums worth picking are the Flying Handicap, six furlongs, and the Grandstand Handicap, seven furlongs, each race being worth a level century. The other items are the First Handicap Hurdles, one mile and a half; the First Handicap Hack Hurdles, one mile and a half; First Handicap Hack Race, one mile; First Pony Handicap, six furlongs ; Hack Scurry Stakes, five furlongs ; Second Handicap Hurdles, two miles ; Second Handicap Hack Hurdles, one mileand a half; Second Handicap Hack Race, one mile and a quarter; Second Pony Handicap, one mile; and Farewell Handicap, one mile. Nominations for the principal events will close on January 9th, and for minor events on February 6th.
