COURSING.

[by

SLIP.]

August 19 and 20—Auckland, at Avondale.

It gives me great pleasure to record the win of Mr J. W. Russell’s Shylock in the Champioii Stakes, at the Dunedin Meeting. The amount of the stakes was hardly in keeping with the name of the stakes. However, it is some consolation to be able to win a decent stake at the back end of the season. Mr Russell is a good supporter of the sport, and it is to these men we like to see the prize money go. The National Coursing Club, Dunedin, has received the following items for registration :—■ Litters —A. Beatty : One bik-w d, by Couranto— Madame Patti, whelped March 1, 1896.
