HAWKES BAY HOUNDS.

Last Wednesday, a large crowd assembled at Petane to witness and partake in the run of the Hawke’s Bay hounds, one of the most enjoyable runs ever participated in. lam sorry to say that Mrs Rhodes, who was riding that generally safe conveyance, Briar, had a hasty fall, and so had Miss Groome, who was mounted on Moe (a halfbrother to Gasparini), but happily neither ladies were seriously injured. At the conclusion of tne sport, all were hospitably entertained by Mr and Mrs Kinross White, at" their country cottage. Amongst those who took a prominent part in the meet were Mrs J. B. Rhodes on Briar, Mrs Sutherland on Harkaway, Miss M. Rhodes on Porangi, Miss Groome on Moe, Miss Watt on Tommy Dodd, Miss Nelson on Sunbeam, Miss Williams on Topthorne, Messrs G. T. Sutherland (Master) on Totorura, H. Jackson (huntsman) on Repo and Revenge, E. Amundson (whip) on E. Johnston on Nimrod, G. Groome on Barlow,—Canning on Day Star, P. J. Neagle on Black Bess, M. Neagle on a chestnut, T. Groome on Lighthouse, — Leitch on Grandwing, and E. Groome on a good-looking and clever cob. /
