First Day—Saturday, 27th June. The weather was splendid for the above meeting, which had been postponed from Wednesday owing to wet weather, and consequently the going was very heavy. After half the distance had been traversed Kaika assumed command, and Hopeful gave chase at the back of the course, only to come to grief at the “ double.” This enabled the Wairarapa pony to go on and win comfortably by six or seven lengths, half a length between second and third.
