Hordern, Esq., to sell as above, The high-class standard bred TROTTERS, consisting of FOUR STALLIONS, namely: ATLAS.—Chestnut Colt, two years old, by Judge Belden, imp., record 2.31, dam May, imp. May’s dam was by Chieftian, sire of Defiance, 2.173; Onward, 2.243, and Flora, 2.30. From the foregoing, it will be seen that ATLAS is right royally bred in trotting lines, and as he is beautifully broken, with a most gentle disposition, and a gait that is the perfection of motion, he has every indication of developing into a speedy animal. THE COUNT.—Bay Colt, two years old. by Judge Belden, imp., dam Countess, imp. Countess, dam of this colt, is a splendid sample of the American harness horse, and this son of hers is sure to do her credit, whether used on the road, track, or stud. John . M. Patchem, the sire of Countess, imp., was a son of G. M. Patchem, jun., 2 21, the sire of Wells Fargo, 2.183, Sam Purdy, 2.20 J; etc., etc. This colt is well formed and has been carefully broken to harness, shows the best of tempers, his way of going will please the most fastidious, and with judicious handling and proper care devoted to his education should make a speedy animal. BELLMAN. —Chestnut colt, two years old, by Judge Belden, imp., 2.31, dam Bell, imp. Bell, the dam of this colt, is one of the best trotting mares ever landed in Australia from America, and when exhibited in the Australian colonies was never beaten. Her sire, Priam, is also the sire of Frank M, 2.17 J, Honesty, 2.25}, etc.; sired by that natural born trotter Whipple’s Hamiltonian. The action of this colt is faultless, he is well broken, and although not worked for speed, shows every indication of being a speedy one. TIP-TOP.—Brown Colt, two years old, sire Judge Belden, imp., dam Lily Vermont. Lily Vermont is an Australian-bred mare, being bred by Mr W. Harris, of Mayfield stud farm, Moss. Vale, N.S.W. She is by Vermont, Jun., imp., whose Australian record is 2.34}, and he is the sire of those good mares Miss Vermont, Lady Vermont, Lady Retford, etc., etc. Tip-Top in blood lines does not belie his name, for there are few better bred trotting' horses south of the Equator, and if he is given the care and attention necessary for the proper development of his speed at the trotting gait, success can be assured, and this co't is deserving of the best attention of buyers of this class of stock. ' JUDGE BELDEN, the sire of these colts, is by Elmo, Rec. 2.27, dam Prentice. Elmo, the sire of Judge Belden, has a record of 2.27, and has to his credit, among others, Alfred S., 2.16 ; L. C. Lee, 2.15; Elma, 2.24; Overman, 2.19 J ; Como, 2.263; Sunflower, 2.25; Emma G., ‘2.273; he is also the sire of the dam of the speedy Wanda, 2.143, and a nftmber of 2.30 horses. Prentice, the dam of Judge Belden, is by Niagara, 2.35, and he is the sire of Fairmount, 2.22, and of Fanny Malone, granddam of Maud C., 2.15}.
