ANNUAL MEETINGS.

POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club was held in the club room on the 6th inst., Mr Clark being in the chair. Mr J. Woodbine Johnson was elected president, and Messrs Winter, Skeet and Kennedy were appointed auditors. The following additional members of committee were elected : — Messrs C. Dean Pitt, D. Dobbie, and R. Sherratt. The committee’s report was as follows : — “ In laying their annual report and statement of accounts before you, the committee of the P.B. Turf Club have to again congratulate the members upon the success of the past year. During the season the club have paid in stakes the sum of against ;£i37o last season, showing an increase of The profits shown by current account, show a profit of 5s 1 id, after paying the totalisator tax of 18s 7d, deducted this year from the club’s usual income. On the 10th February your committee decided to pay off the debenture account, leaving a balance of 10s due to debenture holders. The balance lying to the club’s credit at the Union Bank is 17s id, and owing to the club from various sources, makes a total credit balance of 17s id. The amount of debentures above mentioned is the only outstanding liability. The course has been thoroughly drained, the property of the club is all in good order, and it is not expected that any expenditure in the way of improvements will be required during the season, with the exception of topdressing the inside running of the racecourse. The past season’s operations from a racing point of view must also be considered satisfactory. Two two-year-old races were included for the first time in the annual racing programme. This encouragement to owners and breeders of young horses was well appreciated, and resulted in two interesting races. The thanks of the committee are due to Mr F. Parker for acting as honorary treasurer, and to Captain Winter

for gratuitously auditing the accounts of the club. Messrs C. D. Pitt, D Dobbie and W. Wethered retire by rotation from the committee, but are eligible for reelection. — John Clark, Chairman of Committee.”
