The full brother to Pegasus, who was reserved from last year’s Wapiti sale owing to an injured leg, has been christened Neptnne. The youngster has been turned out and is progressing favourably.. Writing of the recently formed English AntiGaming League “ Rapier,” the well-known turf scribe, remarks :—“ What makes Englishmen so contemptuously angry with the Anti-Gambling League is its gratuitous and insolent interference with other people’s affairs. If wrong is done there is the law to set it right, and there are, moreover, officers of the law duly appointed to see that it is not disregarded; but it js so annoying to be dictated to by a lot of malicious little busybodies, that the League will find vigorous opponents in multitudes of those who have no, sort of sympathy with betting. It is the same with that dullest of dull talking clowns Sir Wilfred Lawson and kis league. Their attempted dictations to their fellow countrymen as to what they shall drink, and when and where they shall drink it, raises up against that league a host of enemies who abhor drunkenness at least as much, as the most rabid teetotaler,”
