ANNUAL MEETINGS.

TARANAKI TROTTING CLUB. The Annual general meeting of the above club was held last week at the Taranaki Hotel, when there was a representative gathering. Mr C. Tate was voted to the chair. The Secretary read the report and balance-sheet, which, was considered satisfactory, and read as follows : —Report. —ln presenting the first yearly balance-sheet to the members, your Committee have to congratulate them on being able to show a small credit balance, which considering at the time we started our meeting that trotting was an innovation in the district and comparatively understood by only a limited number of the community, is fairly satisfactory. The difficulty we have to contend with is the obtaining of a suitable ground for holding our sport When we have done that we may safely look forward to making headway with our undertaking —which is chiefly that of inducing the breeding of a useful class of horse in the district. Balance-Sheet.—Or. ; Nominations and acceptances, £5O 17s; gates, £34 Ils: games (Mr Butterworth), £6 5s ; totalisator (including tax), £42 18s ; programme, £6 2s 6d ; booths, £5 Is 7d ; protests, £4 ; subscriptions, £35 18s 6d ; donations, £3 ; sundries, £1 8s 4d ; total £l9O Is lid. Dr.: Stakes, £130; band, £7 10s; gatekeepers, £8 6s; tax on totalisator, £7 15s; printing and advertising, £l9 15s 3d; Taranaki Jockey Club (rent of ground), £10; postage, &c., £1 7s; protest money returned, £4; balance, £1 14s 2d; total, £l9O Is lid. Mr Partly moved, and Mr Healey seconded, the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, which was carried unanimously. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers for thenservices. Officers.—The following were elected : President, Mr R. Street; vice presidents, Messrs. A. Bayly, W. G. Glassford, J. Avery, T. S. Weston, and E. M. Smith ; committee, Messrs. Tate, R. G. Pardy, J. Healey, P. Duddy, Jas. Hooker, R. A. Scrivener; stewards, Messrs. W. G. Glassford, John Honeyfield, C. Tate, R. Pigott, H Julian, M. Mills, H. Lepper, C. Rogers, J. Tuohy ; secretary, Mr A. A. Ambridge; treasurer, Mr C. Tate; Clerk of Course, Mr J. Healey ; Clerk of Scales, Mr A. Colson ; judge, Mr A. Bayly; handicapper, Mr R. G. Pardy. Messrs M. Jones, Ambridge, Pardy, and Tate were appointed a general committee. The date of next fixture was left to the committee.
