A correspondent thoughtfully forwards us an account of the Waimatatini Races, which were held on April 28th. .From this it appears that the Maiden’ Plate resulted in a dead heat between Cleopatra and Tommy, but the race Was awarded to the mare on account of Tommy’s rider jostling her jockey. In the Handicap Hurdles Ace. of Spades fell at the second fence from home when winning easily, and thus allowed Admore to score. .A protest was entered in connection with the Waimatatini Handicap against the winner Beauly for running inside a post, but after consideration the stewards dismissed it. Pani 11. was second, and Arawa third. Brian Boru easily won the Maori Race, and Ace of Spades had a simjlarlv easy victory in the Hack Race*. Playboy won the District Handicap’after a splendid fight with Arawa, the linnet just getting home by a head, and* Brian Boru followed up his Maori Race victory by annexing the Forced Handicap after a good finish with Playboy.
