AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING. -

Backers will have another opportunity, of hunting the elusive dividend on Saturday next when the Auckland Trotting Club hold the second day of their autumn meeting. A good programme of seven events has been arranged. Four of the races will be for trotters and the ponies wiil have three events. The principal event of the day will be the Stewards’ Handicap Trot of 80 sovs, two miles, and good acceptances are confidently expected for this race. A six and a five furlong pony flat race will be run off, and the Steeplechase of 40 sovs, 2£ miles, is expected to attract a strong field of 14.2 ’chasers. My fancies are as follows:— March Handicap, 6 furlongs. — La Grippe, The Dove, and Lady May. Maiden Pony Race, 5 furlongs. — Maxim, Siesta, Circus Girl. Steeplechase, 2£ miles.—Pica, Little Jane, and Helena.
