~.; i Wednesday, May 24. (By Wire—From our own Correspondent.) There was a good attendance at this meeting. The weather was showery, but the racing was very good. Results :— Flying Stakes Handicap of sosovs ; second horse to receive ssovs from the stakes. Six furlongs (on the flat). Stockfish, 7.8, 1 ; Dingo, 7.3, 2; Goodwood, -7.6, 3.- Only the three started, and Stockfish won easily. Time,; imin 20 3>SSCC.< , •.» J ; Wanganui Handicap,, Steeplechase of 250 sovs; second horse to receive 25 soys and the third horse to receive 10 sovs from the stakes. About three miles. Empire, 10.10 (Higgins), 1 ; Chester, 10.4 (Rollo), 2 ; Gondolier, 10.9 (Alexander), 3. This was a good race, the jumping of most of the contestants being splendid. The starters were Waterbury (baulked), Empire, Gondolier, Chester, Gladius, Manine (baulked) and Iroquois, who fell at the water jump, but was quickly remounted ; Disturbance, who baulked at third fence, and Allegretto who fell at the fourth fence from home. The latter was making strong running with Empire when he fell, and this left the race to the ultimate winner uno fenced splendidly throughout. Manine also stopped the last time round.
