The only horse sold among several that were submitted to auction during an interval in the facing on the second day of the Marlborough Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting was the hurdler College Boy, formerly belonging to Messrs M. and C. Hobbs He found a purchaser at £\2 Tos. Prince Colfe was passed in at 9Ogs and Stockfish at Sogs. Robson, the jockey, has returned to Melbourne, and “ Diamond ” says in the Sporting Standard :— “ Robson is quite enthusiastic in praise of racing in Maoriland. He did a fair amount of riding during his stay, steering five winners, while he thinks he must have ridden a dozen seconds. Racing now is well conducted, the courses admirably appointed, and the cattle first-class. He considers the four-year-old filly Merganser the' greatest crack in New Zealand. The races in which he saw her victorious were won in splendid company, and the pace she displayed would place her oh an equality with the best horses in Australia.”
