NAPIER.

Dec. 13th.
F. Collins has leased the Waverley training stables, and takes possession shortly. He intends erecting a house, and also lads’ quarters.
Mention of his name reminds me that Mr. Collins has just joined the ranks of the Benedicts, and has received many good wishes in connection therewith. Mr. Evett’s adjustments for the Jockey Club’s meeting are to hand, and at first glance I think that Gondolier and St. Malo ought to have a say in the Welter, the son of Foul Play for preference. Beggarman, Disturbance, and Chester look best in the Hurdles ; St. Katherine, St. Malo, and Whimsical in the Summer Handicap; Rangiatea and Chris in the Trial Handicap; Zanella and Mars in the Two-year-old Handicap; and Rangiatea and Stockfish in the Flying Handicap.
Should the Metropolitan Conference of delegates not form a New Zealand Jockey Club when they next meet, Hawkes’ Bay, Wellington, Wanganui, and probably Christchurch, will turn round and form the organisation themselves. This is a fact—l have it on good authority, and as far as that goes it has been discussed and almost decided on already. Should this take place, the Metropolitan Clubs interested will gain support in a manner not thought of. There will be a few reforms introduced on the turf in New Zealand From the information at present in my possession I think it will be in Auckland’s interest to join the proposed combination. I hope they will. Blink Bonny has dropped a filly foal to Torpedo.
