With the Auckland Racing Club’s Winter meeting a thing of the past, we have next to discuss the nice little programme to be run off at Ellerslie on Saturday next under the auspices of the Pakuranga Hunt Club. Then follows on Fiiday week the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s annual Steeplechases, followed immediately by those of the Napier Park Racing Club, while the Wellington Racing Club willtakeupthe running next month. I need now only discuss the events tobedecided at Ellerslie on Saturday, andthough ■ working somewhat in the dark, as the accephave not closed at the time these lines go to press, I shall select the following as probable winners :—Hurdles : Stepper, with Never Miss next. Pony Race : Antic. Welter Handicap : Ida. Stranger next best. Hunt Club Steeplechase : Chance, Scaltheen dangerous. Maiden Hurdles : Rewarewa. Ladies’ Bracelet : The Colonel, Hard Up dangerous. Tally-ho Steeplechase ; Fishmonger or Hurricane.
