FRANCE.
The Paris Exhibition just opened by President Loubet will occupy for a time the undivided attention of this excitable and pleasure-loving nation. The President in his opening address was very happy in his allusions to the fact that the concord of nations and social efforts for the amelioration of the masses were increasing. The vociferous cheers from the motley representatives of all nationalities which were present, were direct evidence that he had hit the popular sentiment of the day ; although his fellow countrymen probably read beween the lines, and smiled complacently, recognising the fact that the theory of concord of nations was an excellent one until extensive preparations for discord are complete, after which — the deluge — or any other more available and less metaphorical destructive agency. Be this as it may, the Exhibition bids fair to be an immense success, and incalculably beneficial to international commercial and manufacturing relations.
