NAPIER.
June 21. Golf. The second round for Mrs. Davis’ bogey trophy was played on Thursday, and was won by Miss Heale (handicap 18), 8 down. Teachers" Winter School. The teachers throughout the Hawke’s Bay education district, 150 in all, have been gathered at Napier for ten days, receiving instruction on the new physical drill by Mr. Royd Garlick and four members of his staff. The lady instructors were Misses Larsen and Heritage. Last 'Friday a very delightful social and dance was given by the teachers in the Princess Hall, at which 200 were present. The secretary (Mr. E. G. Lolen) and the M.C.’s (Messrs. E. Bissell, S. Kemp, F. Melhurst, R. Cole, and J. Duggan) worked hard to make the function a success. During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs. Melhurst, Menzies, Woodward, and Stanton. Yesterday (Thursday) the lady teachers gave a tea, at which they presented Misses Larsen and Heritage with handsome handbags, as a token of their appreciation of the tuition they had received. Personal. Mrs. ami Miss Raney-Jackson and Mrs. Herbert Jackson, of Wanganui, are staying in Napier. Mrs. (Dr.) Hogg, who has been staying in Napier for some weeks, left for her home in Invercargill on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Gaisford, of Marton, have been staying in Napier. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Vallance, of Masterton, are staying at the Masonic Hotel. Dr. and Mrs. Macallum, of Dannevirke, are staying in Napier.
