May 31. Afternoon Tea. An afternoon tea was given on Tuesday by Mrs H. H. Longhnan, who had arranged foursomes at the Shirley Golf Links. The prizes were won by Mrs Day and Air Andreae. Other players were: Mr and Mrs 11. 11. Loughnan. Mrs Godby, Miss Wynks, Miss Cadell, Miss Moore, Mr and Mrs Donald. Mr Alexander, Mr Phillips, and Mr and Mrs T. Cave. Bridge Party. A bridge party was given by Mrs Wigram (Park Terrace) on Saturday evening. The players were: Mrs North (England), Mrs Pyne, Mrs T. Cowlishaw, Mrs ,T. Turnbull, Mrs B. Lane, Sirs Godby, the Misses Murray-Aynsley, Reeves, Humphreys (2j, Cowlishaw, and Lee. Wedding Reception. A wedding reception was held on Wednesday afternoon by Mrs William Reeee, on the occasion of the marriage of her daughter. Miss Irene Reece, to Mr Leslie Molineaux. The reception was held at Mrs Reece's residence. Beale.y Avenue, where quite a number of guests w’ere present. Mrs Reece wore a gown of black crepe de chine, black feathered hat with touches of old gold. The bride’s dress was soft white satin, with draped effect, the bodice "swathed with Duchesse lace; she wore a plain tulle veil, and hud a long court train, held up by two little pages dressed in white satin and lace. The bridesmaid. Miss Majorie Molineaux, wore a frock of pale pink crepe de ehine and nimui. a small close-fitting hat of pink ninon and fur; Mrs Molineaux, a costume of fine mauve coloured cloth, mauve and white hat. Mrs. Henry Brett (Auckland) is staying with her daughters, Mrs. Walcot Wood, and Mrs. I’eter Wood, St. Albans, Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Firth (Wellington) have been spending some days in Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Melville Jameson, who have been staying with Mr. Elworthy, Merivale, have returned to Tiiuaru. Mr. and Mrs. .1. C. X. Grigg and'the Misses Grigg, who were in Christchurch for the festivities, have returned to Longbeach. Colonel Heard and Mrs. Heard.- who have Ix’en staying with Mrs. Onslow, Middleton, have returned to Wellington. Miss Dennistoun, Peel Forest, hasbeen the guest of Mrs. Onslow. Middleton. Miss Phillips, “The Point,” and Miss Miles (Wellington), have been staving with Mrs. Stead at “Strowan Park.” Captain and Mrs. Stoekley, England, have left Christchurch for Woodbury,

where they are the guests of Mrs. Burdon. Miss E. Lucas, Christchurch, is staying with friends at Blenheim. Miss Holderness, Wellington, and the Misses Barker, Marton, who have been spending the holidays in Christchurch, have returned North. Mrs. Charles Clark, Christchurch, has taken a home at Clifton. Sumner. Mrs. Beckett, Fendalton, and her family are staying at Sumner. Mrs. Rolleston, Christchurch, has been staying at Waimate. Mrs. North, England, who has been the guest of Mrs. Pyne, Bealey Avenue, leaves Christchurch to-morrow for Dunedin. Mrs. Beswick, Christchurch, has been spending a few days at Akaroa. Mr. and Mrs. IL Lance have returned to Horsley Downs, after spending some weeks in Christchurch.
