May 31. Afternoon Tea. An afternoon tea was given on Tuesday by Mrs H. H. Longhnan, who had arranged foursomes at the Shirley Golf Links. The prizes were won by Mrs Day and Air Andreae. Other players were: Mr and Mrs 11. 11. Loughnan. Mrs Godby, Miss Wynks, Miss Cadell, Miss Moore, Mr and Mrs Donald. Mr Alexander, Mr Phillips, and Mr and Mrs T. Cave. Bridge Party. A wedding reception was held on Wednesday afternoon by Mrs William Reeee, on the occasion of the marriage of her daughter. Miss Irene Reece, to Mr Leslie Molineaux. Mrs Reece wore a gown of black crepe de chine, black feathered hat with touches of old gold. Miss Majorie Molineaux, wore a frock of pale pink crepe de ehine and nimui. a small close-fitting hat of pink ninon and fur; Mrs Molineaux, a costume of fine mauve coloured cloth, mauve and white hat. Sumner. Mrs. Beckett, Fendalton, and her family are staying at Sumner. Mrs. Rolleston, Christchurch, has been staying at Waimate. Mrs. North, England, who has been the guest of Mrs. Pyne, Bealey Avenue, leaves Christchurch to-morrow for Dunedin. Mrs. Beswick, Christchurch, has been spending a few days at Akaroa.
