May 10. On the Links. Last Saturday proved ideal weather for golf, and the new links were formally opened by the president. Play

consisted of mixed foursomes. Falknor has returned from her visit up the coast. Airs. Barns-Graham left for Wae-renga-kuri this week. Airs. C. Kissling is at present on a visit to Auckland. Aliss Al. Sievwrigiit has returned from her lengthy visit to Wellington. Air. and Airs. Butler, who have been staying at the Alasonic Hotel, have returned to Tiniroto. Airs. (Dr.) 'Morrison is the guest of Mrs. AV. B. Willoek. Airs. AlcFail, of Waimota, is at present staying at the Masonic Hotel. Air. H. de Latour left for Auckland on Wednesday last. Air. Guy Reed, Tologa Ray. paid a short visit to town. Aliss F. Orr, for some time the guest of Airs. G. Reynolds, "Marshlands,” Ormond, has returned to her home at Te Karaka. Mr. H. B. Lusk, of Napier, was in Gisborne for a short time last week. Professor Mills, who is conducting a campaign on behalf of the Unity scheme, arrives in Gisborne this week. Air. and Airs. Bright, sen., have gone on an extended tour through New Zealand. On the eve of their departure a large number of prominent citizens met. and, with suitable speeches, presented them with some useful and valuable presents, in token of the great esteem in which they are held. One of the presents consisted of a handsome purse of sovereigns. Air. G. T. Williams, of "Mokoiwi,” East Coast, is at present in Gisborne. Airs. A. Kempthorne left on Sunday last for Auckland. Airs. R. Ludrook, Titparoa, has returned from her trip to Auckland. The Venerable Archdeacon Williams and Aliss U. AVilliams returned last Tuesday from their trip up the coast. Aliss Gossett, of Christchurch, has been visiting friends in Gisborne. Aliss A. Brook-Taylor went to Auckland last Sunday. Air. A. Watkins. of East Coast, paid a short visit to Gisborne last week.
