Alay 3. At Golf. The Hastings Ladies’ Golf Club opened the season at the links. Longlands, on Wednesday afternoon. The ground was in splendid order, but heavy rain came on

during the afternoon, and spoilt the play. The ladies played for trophies presented by Airs Douglas Murray (captain). There was a large attendance of play ers. Among those present I noticed: Mesdames AleKibbin, Pegler, Murray, Woodward, Alacdonell, Gregroy, Cato, Pinckney, Rainbow, de Lisle, Hulse, Alartin-Smith, Misses Baird, Wellwood, Hurley, Alartin Smith, Hunter, Lanauze, de Lisle. Personal. Aliss Woodhouse is the guest of Aliss Hewson (Havelock North). Air and Airs T. E. Crosse leave for Auckland this week to eateh the Niagara for Canada, en route for England. Sub-Lieut-. Barcroft, of 11.M.5. New Zealand, is spending a fortnight’s holiday with his father. Dr. Barcroft, at "Stoneyeroft.” Air and Airs Douglas Murray are leaving shortly for Waipukurau. Mrs Murray will lx- much missed at golf, in which as captain she has always taken a keen interest. Aliss Susan Wellwood is recovering from her rather serious illness. Airs and Aliss Cooper (Havelock North) are spending a holiday in Wellington. Aliss H. Bushey, who has been spending a holiday in Hastings, has returned to Gisborne. Air C. P. Davis has returned from Gisborne. Aliss Howard has returned from a visit to Gisborne. Aliss C. Hull, who has been spending a short holiday in Hastings, has returned to Blenheim. Mr G. C. Williams, of Hawke’s Bay, is spending a holiday in Gisborne.
