Tennis Championships. The attraction of the Easter holidays was the Wellington Provincial Tournament, played on the Linton Street courts on Saturday, Easter Alonday, and Tuesday. The entries included several players of prominence—Aliss Hartgill (Dannevirke), Miss Baird (Hawke’s Bay), Alessrs Ollivier (Christchurch), Druce, and Swainson (Pahiatua). Perhaps the most interesting event of the tournament was the final of the Ladies’ Championship between Mies Hartgill and Aliss Baird. The former won a great game, just beating her opponent in the third set. The winners of the various events were:—Men’s Championship Singles: G. Ollivier (Christchurch). Alen’s Championship Doubles: Ollivier and Collins. Alen’s Handicap Doubles: Ollivier and Collins. Ladies’ Championship: Aliss Ilartgill. Ladies’ Handicap Singles: Aliss Hughes. Porter spent the Easter holidays at Palmerston. Mr and Mrs A. ißarraud have returned from Paekakariki.
