February 14. Tenuis. A team of tenuis players from I’eihlAug c.ime over on Saturday last and

played a return match with the Linton Street C lub, resulting in a win this time for the local players. Mrs. Carter and Mrs. R. McDonald were the hostesses at afternoon tea. Mrs. Carter wore a long tussore coat over a white frock, and a burnt straw hat with black silk bows; Mrs. McDonald, a hailstone muslin frock, and large cream and black straw hat, with black trimming; Mrs. Addison, grey muslin with frills of grey and white striped muslin, black hat with white roses; Mrs. C. \V. Walker, black channelise coat and skirt, braided in black, black hat wtih black wings; Miss Randolph, grey silk poplin coat and skirt, black tulle Pierrot, ruffle, black hat with black ospreys; Miss F. Randolph, white crepe frock, with Irish crochet trimming, black hat with white roses; Miss E. Wilson, white embroidered muslin, hat swathed with white silk; Mrs. McKnight, saxe blue silk poplin coat and skirt, black hat with black tulle; Mrs. Bendall, white linen frock, burnt straw hat with navy and fawn silk bows; Mrs. Mason, navy lustre coat and skirt, black toque with small pink flowers; Miss G. The grounds were lit with gas, and the pavilion gaily decorated with Chinese lanterns, also the stage. The seating accommodation was taxed to its utmost, While numbers. stood about in groups. . Songs and comic recitations formed. the first part of the entertainment. In the second part Mr. R. Oakley performed some clever conjuring tricks. At half-time, supper was served in the tea pavilion. Miss Baddeley (Kimbolton). Messrs. Jacob Jickell, Carter, Scott and Drew contributed songs and recitations, and Mrs. Carter. Messrs. Oakley, Rutherford, and Baddeley played the accompaniments. Mr. Morrah, president of the’ club, was the originator of the idea, and he was ably assisted by the secretary, Mr. 'Taylor, in bringing it to such a successful end.
