General Notea. ,lt is possiblie that, owing to the Wellington championship meeting 'at Palm-

erston North at Easter, the province may not I>e represented at the North Island inter-provincial tournament at New Plymouth. The clubs have been circularised to nominate players, and the Association is in honour bound to send a team, however weak it may be compared with the real representative strength. Participation in the tournament would be a great education for players like W. Crews, L. Butcher and E. Reeves. Unfortunately the difficulty will be in regard to lady players, very few of whom are likely to be available. In connection with the two Eastbourne clubs, the present position of their handicap events is as .follows: —Muritai: Miss Mantel! won the ladies’ singles, while the men’s is rapidly approaching completion. Kona Bay: F. P. Kelly (10), who defeated last year’s winner, F. A. Lewis (scr.), in the semi-final, qualified for the final in which he meets <!. R. How den (12). The ladies’ event is in course of slow progress necessary to the adoption of the Yankee principle for its decision. Miss Gladys Dimant, for some years a member of the Wellington Lawn Tennis dub, was a competitor at the Nelson Tournament, completed last week, winning the ladies’ singles championship and also appearing in the successful combination in the combined doubles championship.

The Newtown Club’s representatives have won the ladies’ junior championship 'by virtue of their defeat of Trinity at Day’s Bay on Saturday week. The regular members of the team during the season were: Misses Asquith, J. Clark, P. and V. Veitch, and Printzen.
