A Rich Child.

The Czarevitch, a tiny boy eight years old, is picturesquely described as “the!, most valuable child in the world.” is perhaps the only baby in the world Who had a bank account opened for him? the moment he drew his breath; and an allowance of £15,000 a year was paid regularly to the credit of that unconscious infant. The child is-heir to the( greatest throne in the world, to a private fortune of £40,000,000, a salary o£ £2,000,000 a year, and an inheritance of 500 estates, employing 30,000 servants: •Surely this boy is entitled to be called! “the most valuable child in the world,” - and to be the envy of all other children 1| But a mysterious disease has touched, hid childish flesh, and wealth and rank, crown and throne, in a moment are all turned to ashes. There is something wealth cannot buy nor despotic power command —something which is only God’s gift—and that is health. It isf difficult to imagine what vast sums the! Czar and Czarina would give to buy Tot; their unhappy boy the vigorous health' that myriads of humbler children enjoy.
