January 10. Horticultural Show. The Nelson Horticultural Society's Sweet Pea and Carnation Show was

held on two dayo during the week, and was a great micrvuo. Although the dry weather rather spoilt the aweet the show wags 'a very good one. Collingwood exhibitors ’ were very *uce*<sful with their nweet peao, and another beautiful stand wad exhibited by Mrs <«. Kerr. Mr. Bert Tasker showed sonic? very fine carnations, not for competition. The Citizens’ Band played each evening. A garden fete and bazaar is to be held at Mr. John Oldham’s residente. “Wernetii,” Wakapuaka, on January 15th, in aid of the Vicarage Fund. There will be a, Hower show ana various competitions, and stall.! for the sale of work, sweets and produce. Personal. Mre. F. Ward (Wellington) is the guest of Colonel ami Airs. Webb. Mrs. D. Fdwards has returned from her visit to Marlborough. Mrs. (tajiavan (Blenheim) is visiting Nelson. Mr. ami Mrs. J. S. Rut-herfurd, of MO)Unt Pleasant, and formerly of Kohatu, are leaving Nelson for Auckland, where they intend to reside. Mrs. J. 11. Cock and Mi-s <J. Cock ar3 away in Napier.

Mr. and Mm. J. E. Allen have returned from their visit to England. Mrs. Bowie (Napier) w staying with friends in Nelson.

The Rev. T. F. Taylor has accepted ihe living of Suburban North, and will take up his new duties by the end of March.
