Children's Party. A children’s party was given on Saturday afternoon by Mrs. W. Helmore, at her residence, Harewood Road.--All kinds of games were played, and a delicious tea nerved under the trees. An altogetherdelightful time was spent, and enjoyed alike by the children and the grown-ups. Those present ineluded: Mesdames Hill, Allen, Lawrence, Pascoe, Cooper, Aeland, Wynn-Williams, Fox, Randal, Blunt G. Helmore, Reeves, Vernon, A. Julius, Bowen, Misses Cowlishaw, Cocks, Lee, Cresson, Bowen, Rolleston and Neave. The children were: Misses and Masters jpowlisliaw, Macdonald. Turnbull, Beswiek. Blunt. Pascoe (2), Aeland (3), Cooper (2). Day (2). Reeves (2), Allan, Vernon, Harper (3). A Dance. • On Friday evening a dance was given at “Te Whare” by Miss Cox, to her pupils from Christ’s College, and their friends. Those present were: Mesdames Cox, Beckett. Wanklyn, Lane, Hall, Tilson, Dalgety. Misses Ross, Rich, Lane, Jennings, Pyne. Beckett, Beadel, Bowden, Cooke (2), Hamner, Harley, Robinson, Holmes. Averill, Helmore, Thomson. At Strowan Park. ..’A children’s party was given on Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. G. G. Stead, ‘'Strowan Park.” A huge Christmas tree .was the centre of attraction, and each child received several presents. Mrs. Stead wore a blouse of cream net insertion, with a black satin skirt, large black hat with ostrich feathers; Mrs. Russell Grace (Wellington), pretty frock of white embroidered muslin, with sash of pale blue floral ribbon; Mrs. Gerald Stead, grey cloth coat and skirt, grey and mauve hat. Stead at “Strowan Park.” Visitors to Christchurch include Mr. and Mrs. Christie (Wanganui, Mr. and Mrs. Melville Jameson (Timaru), Miss Barker (Geraldine), is the guest of Mrs. Helmore; Mi’s. Wilder (Hawke’s Bay) has been visiting Mrs. Wigram, “Park Terrace.” Mr. and Mrs. J. Deans (Homebush), Mrs. J. D. Ormond (Hawke’s Bay) is staying with Mrs. Pyne. Bealey Avenue. Miss Fitzgerald (Wellington) was the guest of Mrs. Deniston. Mr. and Mrs. H. Lance and family (Horsley Downs), Mr. and Mrs. P. Elworthy (Timaru). Mrs. Henry Wood has returned to Christchurch from Dunedin. Miss Denniston (Christchurch) has left for Dunedin. Mrs. Quane (Christchurch) has returned from Dunedin. Mr. and Mrs. T. Cane (Christchurch) are spending the holidays in Oamaru. Mrs. Price (Christchurch) is staying with friends in Ashburton. Mrs. E. Le Cren (Timaru) is the guest of Mrs. F. Graham (Christchurch). Mr. and Mrs. J. Miles (Marton) are in Christchurch, staying with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Currie (Napier) are the guests of Airs. G. W. Russell at Avonside, Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. S. Gordon (Wanganui) are staying with Mrs. Newton, Bealey Avenue.
