November 9th. At tie Siow. There was glorious weather on “ People’s Day ” at the Show, and a great attendance. His Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington were present during the afternoon. By the New Plymouth express from Wellington in the morning, a large' party- of members of Parliament came up, including Alessr®. Buick, Robertson, Sykes, Afander, Bradney, Pearee, Buddo,'Harris, Okey, Hine, Forbes, Bollard and Coates, while there were Mrs. and Aliss Okey- and Aliss Manlier. Lady Islington wore a black coat and skirt, and a large blaek velvet hat with drooping black ospreys; Airs. Jars of lilies were effectively arranged aibout the drawingroom, and the mantelpiece done with roses. Air and Airs Ale Knight, Air and Airs C. E. Waldegravc, Air ami Airs Fuller, Aliss Robison I Melbourne), Air and Airs Armstrong, Miss Armstrong, Aliss Reed, Aliss Randolph, Aliss Mason, and Alessrs J. P. Innes, Blackmore, Pavitt, Alason, and Collins were the guests. Mrs Coombs wore a black eharmeuse frock, with a white net vest; Aliss Coombs, a pretty pale blue silk frock: Aliss AL Coombs, a black satin skirt ami bodies of cream cl black striped velvet; Airs Ale Knight, bl.uk velvet with emerald green trimmings; Airs C. E. Airs J. P. Innes, Featherston Street, gave a progressive bridge party on Wednesd ly afternoon. Airs AV. L. Fitzherbert won the first prize, Airs C. E. Waldegrave the second, and Mrs F. S. Mcßae the third. Some beautiful roses were used in the decoration of the drawingroom.
