October 12. Bridge Party. Mrs E. E. Roberts gave a large bridge party on Thursday evening. The house is beautifully arranged for entertaining, having a fine entrance hall with large rooms opening from it. Bridge was played in the drawing-room and diningroorii, and supper was laid in the hall, 'the table was beautifully deeorated with pink Japanese cherry blossom, and silver candelabra with exquisite pink shades. There were thirteen tables; the prizes were won by Miss Jay Ist, Mrs B. Couper 2nd; Mr Ross Ist, Mr A. R. S. Richardson 2ml. Mrs Roberts was wearing a pretty mauve satin cliarmeuse, trimmed with embroidered chiffon; Miss Attlield, a dainty frock of white satin trimmed with lace; Mrs W. Douglas, white satin with white ninon edged with lace; Miss Mary Roberts looked sweet in white satin trimmed with lace; Mrs Hally, heliotrope silk with tunic of ninon edged with fringes, bodice trimmed with creme .Maltese 'lace, and a lace scarf; .Mrs I'’. Taylor returned to Cambridge to-day ‘after being iu Auckland fur a week or t wo. Mr J. Banks left Cambridge yesterday for Hobart and Melbourne for a holiday; he will be joined by his sister. Miss Banks, in Auckland, where she lias been staying for some -time fur the. benefit of her health.
